It is my custom to step outside our back door in the morning to sniff the air and read the thermometer,  get a feel for the world outside and wake up a bit. I've been careful not to get too close to the basket hanging on a nail there, ever since we realised the  blackbirds were nesting inside.
This morning there was a lot of blackbirdly fuss from somewhere nearby, so I nipped back indoors quickly.
I arrived home this evening to be greeted by my  wife who delightedly led me to peep outside to see  these two. She took this lovely picture too.
